Cogswell Hall fills the gap left by other community low-income housing programs by both preventing and interrupting the cycle of homelessness and meets the needs of individuals regardless of whether they are entering from a shelter, living on the street, someone’s couch or a condemned building. Cogswell Hall provides everyone a quality stable home and the support necessary to improve their lives. Every person stabilized in housing means one less person utilizing the costly and scarce emergency shelter beds in our community. Stable housing with supportive services has proven to be an effective and successful model for reducing the costs of emergency medical services and the overall costs to the community to provide basic health and welfare. After becoming stable in housing our residents frequently develop positive relationships and become valued members of our community.
